The decision by the Supreme Court means that the judgment of the Environmental Court of Appeal will enter into final force. Owing to the Supreme Court's proceedings having taken more than a year, Rottneros requested in June 2009 that the Environmental Court postpone the date when the treatment plant is to be commissioned.

"We have for some time now been planning an improvement project at Vallvik Mill. It aims to improve competitiveness through a higher level of production in terms of both pulp and energy, while at the same time, this environmental requirement, which has been discussed for several years, will get a complete, cost-effective and profitable solution," says Rottneros CEO Ole Terland.

"Our proposed new share issue is a key precondition for our capability to implement these improvements at Vallvik Mill," he says.
