Everyone at Nykvist Skogs shares a genuine commitment to forests and forest management and all employees - from timber buyers, advisors and purchasers to logisticians, administrative staff and machine operators - have solid experience and expertise in their fields.

What knowledge do our timber buyers have?

As our customer, you are in close contact with your personal timber buyer. Working as a timber buyer requires a combination of education, practical experience and specific knowledge of both forestry and business. In order for everyone to understand the complexity of the knowledge our timber buyers possess, we list here some of the most important requirements:

  • Forestry education - often a forester or a higher forestry education from a university, such as a bachelor's or master's degree in forestry from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
  • Knowledge of legislation, tax rules and environmental requirements
  • Knowledge of certifications such as FSC and PEFC 
  • Economics, marketing and business studies 
  • Forest ecology and management 
  • Business intelligence, market developments and price fluctuations
  • Technical competence in digital tools for planning, measuring and analysing forest stands, in GIS and mapping software and IT skills.
  • Experience in customer contact and negotiation 
  • Last but not least - practical experience!
